November 16, 2016 - Fall Outing

Several members and guests enjoyed a magnificent afternoon organized by our Special Events Committee.
Following a three-course lunch at the Gardiner Museum, we were all captivated by a spectacular exhibition at The Royal Ontario Museum featuring the extraordinary work of Dale Chihuly. Thanks to knowledgeable tour guides taking us on a journey of dramatic works of art while "exploring colour, light and form by one of the world’s foremost artists working in glass today". It was an artistic expression capturing attention of everyone on tour. What an amazing afternoon!

September 8, 2016 - Afternoon Tea - time to raise the pinky!

Our fall lecture series opened with Doug Saunders, international affairs columnist with the Globe and Mail speaking on The Myth of the Muslim Tide, his most recent book. Immediately following this enlightening talk, a majority of the membership along with guests enjoyed an Afternoon Tea in the Central Westminster Room, attractively decorated to suit the occasion. While many sipped tea, enjoyed the tea-sandwiches and special treats they met new friends as lively chatter filled the room. Expressions such as, "why not make this an annual event" were overheard to the pleasure of the Executive Committee promptly making notes for future planning!

April 20, 2016 - Spring Outing

What a delightful afternoon members and guests enjoyed visiting the AGA KHAN MUSEUM. Followed by a scrumptious three-course Middle Eastern lunch in the DIWAN Restaurant, we were treated to a fascinating tour guided by friendly and informed docents who offered an appreciation of artefacts in relation to cultural, intellectual and artistic traditions of the Muslim community. It was a tour that offered "unique insight" and "cultural threads that weave through history".
